Season’s Greetings

ORN-Volunteers-B

Season’s Greetings, everyone! We hope you have all enjoyed a wonderful Christmas with family and friends. While many of us have had the luxury of some time off, we’d like to thank those of you who serve the public and had to report to work instead. You are greatly appreciated!

So too, are all our wonderful volunteers, for the many hours they have dedicated to Operation Red Nose. Our 2014 campaign is almost over, and in view of the year-over-year increase in rides so far, a record-breaking night is expected on December 31st.

“Ask any of our volunteers and they’ll tell you that not only is the experience fun, you also feel good knowing that you’ve helped keep our roads safe,” said Chris Wilson, our coordinator. “And through the donations received you’ve helped get kids into sports. Plus it looks great on your résumé!” he added.ORN-Volunteers-A

If you know anyone who’d be a great asset to our volunteer pool, please point them in the direction of our website and have them download and submit an application form as soon as possible. To meet the cut-off date for New Year’s Eve applications must be received by December 29th.

New Year’s Eve Volunteers Needed

3rd weekendWe’ve had phenomenal turn-outs for volunteers so far, but it looks like we’re going to be short on New Year’s Eve, so we’re putting out a call for very special people to come out for a very special cause. Oh, and by the way – it’s also a lot of fun! Plus you get to feel good knowing that not only have you made our roads safer, you have also helped more kids to play sports. Now what can be better than that?

All volunteers are required to complete our volunteer form and to have a criminal record check done. We have separate forms for Burnaby, New Westminster and Tri-Cities, and each one explains what to do and where to go. Either download the forms by clicking on the city links here, or visit our Volunteers page for more information. Please get your forms in as soon as possible.

Thanks!

2014 campaign going strong!

13-Dec

What a fantastic campaign we are having. We have had three extremely successful weekends so far, thanks to all our wonderful volunteers!

Compared to last year we have seen an increase both in rides and donations:

Weekend 1, 2013 – weekend 1, 2014 : 25% increase in rides and donations.
Weekend 2, 2013 – weekend 2, 2014 : 12% increase in rides and 20% increase in donations.

Weekend 3 saw us breaking all records. Adding up all three weekends, our totals for the season so far are: 575 rides and $19,059.70 in donations!

Overall last year we gave 936 rides, so it looks like we’re well on track to exceed 1000 rides this year!
